Post-Frame Construction

Post-Frame Construction is durable, versatile, economical, quickly constructed, energy efficient and dependable. Post-frame buildings are known for their reliable performance and ability to withstand severe weather conditions. Post-frame structures are designed for optimal load-carrying performance. Each element of the structure is present for a specific purpose. This framing system provides more strength and structural integrity for your building dollar.

Columns, or posts, are one of the most important elements in Post-Frame Construction. The posts can be buried directly in the ground, buried in concrete, or anchored to a concrete foundation. Supporting columns are spaced further apart in post-frame buildings than typical construction – (4 feet, 8 feet or more, rather than the 16 or 24 inches on center typically used in conventional light-frame wood structures).

After columns, the next most critical element in Post-Frame Construction is the roof framing system. The primary load resisting elements of a post-frame roof are metal plate connected trusses and solid-sawn purlins and rafters. Metal plate connected (MPC) trusses are precisely engineered components that compliment post-frame technology. MPC trusses can be designed for wide on-center spacing applications typically 4ft, 8ft, or 10ft).
